Dr. Hooley McLaughlin Appointed Director of Visitor Experience
Lesley Lewis, CEO of the Ontario Science Centre is pleased to announce that Dr. Hooley McLaughlin has been appointed Director of Visitor Experience. Most recently Dr. McLaughlin has held the position of Senior Science Advisor and Deputy Director of Visitor Experience (2003-2007) and, since October 2007, Acting Director of Visitor Experience.
Dr. McLaughlin obtained his PhD in Zoology at the University of Toronto for his studies on embryonic spinal cord regeneration. His subsequent post-doctoral work in development biology was funded through a Medical Research Council Fellowship. Since joining the Ontario Science Centre in 1987, Dr. McLaughlin has led a variety of projects including an extensive list of major exhibitions such as “A Question of Truth” and the renewal of the Space Hall.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the Ontario Science Centre fosters positive attitudes towards science and technology; it helps people to appreciate the context of scientific advances and to understand how science affects their lives and the planet.
As the new Director of Visitor Experience, Dr. McLaughlin will be a pivotal leader in the Ontario Science Centre’s next stage of growth and development as one of Canada's most important and exciting cultural institutions.
