Real Green: Does the environment still need to be saved?

 sci fri environment image

Climate change, endangered species, polluted air and water, and a shortage of fossil fuels.  We’ve been hearing about the environment crisis for decades. Is the cry to save the environment softer than it used to be or have we stopped hearing it?

In the last few years, new technologies such as wind and solar power have emerged, there are recycling & composting programs, whooping cranes are back from the brink of extinction, and the ozone hole over the South pole is shrinking. With an entire generation raised to be environmentally conscious - Is the need to save the environment over?

Once you get here what is there to do?

  • Explore environmental issues with fun games and activities
  • Play Musical Animals, and try not to become extinct
  • Think you know everything about conservation? Want to know more? Test your knowledge in the popular Battle of the Sexes game show. Do girls or guys have all the facts?
  • Fuel your body with a few snacks.
  • Decorate your body and get an airbrushed tattoo.
  • Accompany the DJs and move your body to make music.

PLUS,

Got an opinion? Here's your chance to share it! Cast your vote in the OSCERS (Ontario Science Centre Environmental Responsibility Showdown) and decide which conservation organizations deserve to walk along the green carpet to claim a prize. Which ones will win you over?

Representatives from Ecoprints, Evergreen Brickworks, Ocean Wise, Ontario Bio Blitz, and the Toronto Environmental Alliance will present their causes in a lightning–fast round, explaining their organization’s goals and competing for your attention.  The audience decides the winner!

PLUS music, snacks, activities, exhibits and games…. It’s the Science Centre like you’ve never experienced it before!
