Contact Toronto Photography Festival - Image Matter

Ends September 10, 2007

By Dave Kemp and Kevin Robbie

Image Matter depicts microscopic edge-on views of a variety of photographic media. These large-scale prints question the nature of value resulting from advances in digital technologies, specifically as related to photographic images.

Image Matter at the !dea Gallery is part of the Contact Toronto Photography Festival: The Constructed Image. Using different material, influences and disciplines often combined through technology, photography’s relationship with reality has been transformed by the numerous ways in which images are now constructed. The Constructed Image explores this fusion of practices that has transformed the nature of photography into a new hybrid genre.

Image Matter is an exhibition produced through collaboration between a Toronto-based visual artist and a physicist specializing in nanostructured materials. !DEA Gallery, Level D
