Body Mapping ~ Women Navigating the Positive Experience in Africa and Canada
Ends April 4, 2008

These compelling, life-sized paintings illustrate the impact of HIV on women's bodies. Each Body Map has been created by a woman from southern Africa who is living with HIV/AIDS.
The women created the works as part of an education project. The project enables women living with HIV/AIDS to better understand HIV and its treatment, combat stigma, improve personal coping strategies and share their wisdom through art.
The paintings reveal important marks left on their bodies and souls, and include the individual’s symbols of "personal power", things that give them support and hope.
In the !dea Gallery, Level D.
