Dr. McLaughlin obtained his PhD in Zoology at the University of Toronto in 1985. He began his career at the Ontario Science Centre in 1987 as Staff Biologist. He has since led the content development of a number of exhibitions, covering topics as diverse as sport, psychology, the history of bias in science, the philosophy of time, material science, the history and geography of Canada, and the history and ethnology of Siberia. He has also curated a number of major art installations at the Centre as well as the recent refurbishment of the Space Hall and redevelopment of the CA Planetarium. 

Dr. McLaughlin’s work involves creating community and expert panels who advise on major exhibition development. This has led to collaborations with a number of international scientific societies, museums and science centres around the world, in places such as Moscow, Johannesburg, Paris, Riyadh, and Washington, D.C.
