An experimental procedure is a detailed, step-by-step list of what you plan to do to test your hypothesis. Make sure your experimental procedure follows these guidelines:
- Select only one thing to change in each experiment. The things that you change are called variables.
- Change something that will help you test your hypothesis.
- Explain clearly how you will change this one thing.
- Explain clearly how you will measure the amount of change.
- Each type of experiment needs a "control" for comparison, so that you can see what effect the change had.
