American Psychological Association

Washington, DC 1999

In the early 1990s, the Ontario Science Centre was chosen to partner with the American Psychological Association (APA) to create, design and fabricate an exhibition about psychology. With involving activities and experiments, the exhibition-Psychology: Understanding Ourselves, Understanding Each Other-introduces the general public to the breadth, depth and diversity of the research and practice of psychology. Viewed by over 3 million people at 11 sites, this exhibition now resides permanently at the Arizona Science Centre. Another permanent version also resides at the Ontario Science Centre.

Following on the success of the exhibition, the Centre was commissioned in 1996 to duplicate 15 exhibits from the collection as a small travelling exhibition for the APA. These exhibits were first housed in the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) headquarters in Washington, DC-the largest general science organization in the United States. The smaller collection began travelling in the United States in 1999.
