If your eye moves when the picture isn't
finished, it distorts the picture.
The Stretch
Suppose the raspberry makes the screen
image seem to move down, when the picture is only partly finished.
Then the bottom of the picture will be pulled down lower than
it should be.
That makes part of the picture
look stretched out.
In a stretched part of the picture,
the monitor's light gets spread out over a larger area than
normal. That makes the stretched part look darker than it
should.

The Squish
Suppose the screen seems to jump up, when
the picture is nearly finished. The very bottom of the picture
gets pushed upward.
That makes part of the picture look
squished up.
In the squished part of the picture, the
monitor's light is emitted from a smaller area than normal. So,
the squished part seems brighter than normal. (Just like it does
in Wanna See a Scan Line?)
Alternating stretches and squishes make
the wavy distortion you see.
