KidSpark

KidSpark

Learn through play in KidSpark on Level 4 – a new space specially designed for kids eight and under to enjoy with their parents or caregivers. Since it opened in fall 2003, KidSpark has proved so popular that visitors asked for more. We’ve responded and children can now enjoy almost twice as many KidSpark experiences as were in the original area!

Please Note: during busy periods you may have to line up to enter KidSpark.

  • Splish, splash, drip, bubble, ripple and pour. The expanded water play area is wetter than before! When you make things flow, you discover that water behaves in interesting ways.
  • Build a roller coaster and float balls in mid-air. Or try new side-by-side ball racetracks where you can play and share! When you move things, you learn why they work the way they do.
  • Papaya, peaches, peas or pears? The Market has expanded to include a Café with chairs! What do you need today? How much does it weigh? How much will it cost? When you shop, you learn math and nutrition in lots of fun ways.
  • Create shapes, colours and patterns using magnets, mirrors, a pin wall and puffs of water vapour. When you explore design you begin to identify the many patterns in the world around you.
  • Find out what’s “growing on” inside and outside your body. As you grow you see the world from different perspectives.
  • Do we all like the same music? Dress and play the same way? Send a message across the room or around the world and find out. When you share, you learn about our differences and similarities.
  • What can you make with a conveyor belt? A house? A tower? A pyramid? When you build, you see that shapes are all around us!
  • Perform in a studio, change your voice, match sounds and make amazing music! When you sing, you hear that sound is part of science.
  • Cook a make-believe meal in a mini-kitchen, put on a puppet show, or listen to a story in the reading room. When you imagine, you explore thinking creatively.
