Toronto is starting to reopen its doors, and we can’t wait to welcome you back. But it’s going to take us a little longer due to our interactive, high-touch exhibits. We’re working on a comprehensive plan to make sure it’s safe when we open our doors again–so thank you for your patience. As soon as we have more details, we’ll share.

PLANT PROPAGATION — Grade 11

Did you know that the dried beans in your pantry are living but dormant seeds? Perform a bean dissection to see the structures inside and how they help a plant to survive. Then help a seed to germinate. This resource will help students make the leap from structured to open inquiry, using materials they have at home.

SUBJECT: Biology | STRAND: Plants: Anatomy, Growth and Function; Plants and the Natural Environment | TOPIC: Plant Propagation
EXPECTATIONS:
SB13U: F2.2, F2.4, F3.3, F3.4; SBI3C: F2.2, F2.3

SPRING FORCE PHYSICS — Grade 12 (SPH4U)

Are forces really constant? Are solid objects actually rigid? How much weight can a board hold without breaking? What holds objects together? What happens to objects as they break? These simple inquiry activities that students can do at home using everyday materials make it fun to discover the concept of non-constant forces.

SUBJECT: Physics | STRAND: Dynamics, Energy and Momentum
TOPIC: Spring Force Physics (Hooke's Law and Applications)
EXPECTATIONS:
B2.3, B2.4, B2.5, C3.1
