Toronto is starting to reopen its doors, and we can’t wait to welcome you back. But it’s going to take us a little longer due to our interactive, high-touch exhibits. We’re working on a comprehensive plan to make sure it’s safe when we open our doors again–so thank you for your patience. As soon as we have more details, we’ll share.

The Hospital for Sick Children

Toronto, Ontario (2009)

In 2008, the Ontario Science Centre was approached to develop a children's play kitchen that was to be part of the new Hematology and Oncology Wing of the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Sick Kids is more than a hospital. It is one of the largest and most respected paediatric academic health science centres in the world. In this place where care of the family is as important as care of the child, we found an opportunity to utilize our exhibit designs.

Working with the staff at Sick Kids, we looked at a number of exhibit ideas, in addition to our Children’s Kitchen design, and found a way to incorporate three exhibits out of our own KidSpark into this new space.

In 2009, fabrication of these exhibits was carried out by our fabrication team and installed in December of 2009 with the wing officially opening in January 2010.
