During this session, you can expect to:
1. Apply the engineering design process: This is a key component of the course, helping students identify and solve problems through a structured process of ideation, prototyping, testing and refinement.
2. Explore real-life problem-solving and critical thinking: The focus on real-world issues helps students see the direct application of what they’re learning. Educators will gain insight into how to align lesson plans with tangible problems, making learning more relevant.
3. Examine adaptable lesson plans and resources: Learn how to use the Ontario Science Centre’s resources as-is or how they can be adapted to your classroom needs, ensuring that the activities are aligned with both the curriculum and your teaching goals.
4. Support student success: These lesson plans provide a structure for fostering transferable skills in students, engaging them not only with the content but also in gaining critical life skills such as communication, project management, collaboration and problem solving.
