Day Camps

Summer Day Camps 2020

Keep young minds happy and active this summer with exciting experiments, hands-on exhibits and interactive discovery at the Ontario Science Centre’s Day Camps!

 

HALF-DAY CAMPS  (9 to 11:45 a.m. or 1:15 to 4 p.m.)


Little Scientists (4-5 year olds)

Make new friends and see how community workers in our neighbourhood put real science like chemistry, biology and engineering to work, every day!

Little Astronauts (4-5 year olds)

Blast off to the world beyond our atmosphere and discover the science that astronomers and astronauts use to study planets, stars and rockets.

FULL-DAY CAMPS  (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

 

Ingenious Engineers (5-12 year olds)

Grab your blueprints and help solve everyday challenges by putting your engineering skills to the test. Use both simple and complex machines to construct crash-proof cars or send a potato flying with our launcher. Soar to new heights exploring energy, velocity and flight by designing and building your own “turbo tube.”

Food Science (5-12 year olds)

Roll up your sleeves and get messy using everyday food and materials to explore different scientific theories and principles. From paintings to explosions, get ready to mix up some fun kitchen chemistry and experiment with your food—not eat it! Learn about food chains, discover how your body turns food into useful energy and start your own organic garden to reduce your ecological footprint.

Science Centre Innovators (13-14 year olds)

Join us for a week of hands-on activities and behind-the-scenes exploration. With the guidance of Science Centre experts, you'll perform experiments and even design an exhibit prototype to showcase your findings and put your new discoveries to the test!

General Information




Age

Campers must be 4 to 14 years old while at Camp and may only be registered in age-specific themes. Campers cannot participate in the same theme twice. Campers will be divided into groups of 20 to 25 according to their age. Within their group, campers will be no more than one year apart in age.

Please note: As per “The Child Care and Early Years Act,” we cannot care for children under the age of 4. Campers registered as 4 or 5 year olds may be required to provide proof of age (birth certificate).

Camp Hours

Full-Day Camps run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday
Half-Day Camps run from 9 to 11:45 a.m. or 1:15 to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. Half-day campers may only be registered in one session per day.

Extended Care

Supervised extended care from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. and from 4:15 to 6 p.m. with games, self-directed play, educational videos and quiet activities is available for $75/week. The Extended Care service is offered as secure and reliable child care and does not include Camp-themed programs or activities.

Camp T-shirt

Campers receive one complimentary T-shirt per week to wear daily at Camp.

Supervision

Camper safety and supervision is of the utmost importance. Camp programs are delivered by responsible, enthusiastic and caring counsellors with a broad range of expertise and experience working with children in an educational and / or recreational environment and have Vulnerable Sector Screening Checks, training in First Aid and CPR-c certification.

Special Needs

The Science Centre is unable to provide one-on-one supervision, adapted programming, specific medical support or a nut-free environment. However, campers with special needs may have an adult support person accompany them free of charge. Where applicable, please submit the Medical/Special Needs form.

*To qualify for an Ontario Science Centre Member Discount:

  • The person booking the camper must be their custodial parent or legal guardian and also hold a current Planetary, Stellar, Galactic or Cosmic level Ontario Science Centre Membership that includes children.
  • The membership must be valid on the date the Ontario Science Centre receives the registration.

Bookings will be accepted until Wednesday at 4 p.m. prior to the start of your selected Camp week, subject to availability. We accept AMEX, Visa or MasterCard. Full payment is required at time of booking. Only the custodial parent and/or legal guardian is permitted to submit a Camp booking.

Placement Request Form

Cancellation / refund policy

No refund for cancellations after Friday, June 5, 2020.
Cancellations prior to June 5 and all modifications, including extended hours are subject to a $70 administration fee.

No refunds will be given for days when a camper is absent, and missed days cannot be made up.

A refund due to medical reasons may be considered if a written request, accompanied by a doctor's note, is received within a week of the missed Camp.

Programs, prices and policies are subject to change without notice.

Please note that children attending camp are expected to abide by the Camper Code of Conduct (outlined in the Summer Day Camp Information Package.) The Ontario Science Centre reserves the right to terminate the registration of any camper if, in the opinion of the Manager, it is in the best interest of the camper and / or Camp. If the Ontario Science Centre terminates a camper’s registration, a pro-rated refund will be considered.
