We’re working to welcome you back through our doors again, from modifying exhibits to reconfiguring our halls. We’re listening to the advice of public health officials, so it’s going to take us a little longer to reopen. We’ve got a comprehensive plan to keep everyone safe. Take a look.
We look forward to resuming our camps with new safety protocols (see What to Expect). Please check back for seasonal programming. Sign up for our eNews to keep updated on what’s new at the Science Centre.
School may be out for the summer, but that doesn’t mean learning has to stop! At the Science Centre, we offer five-day camp programs all summer long. Campers will explore exhibit halls, make new friends and take part in hands-on science activities. Summer camps are full-day or half-day, depending on the age of the child.
Each week, our enthusiastic camp counsellors deliver activities and hands-on content aligned to specific themes in private, camp-friendly spaces within the Science Centre.
Throughout the summer, we offer a variety of full-day and half-day camps for different age groups, and we’re always exploring new themes and ideas. Camp themes will be announced when new camp dates are released. Get in touch or check back to learn more about what’s new. Please note: summer campers cannot participate in the same theme twice.
When—Summer day camps are available throughout the summer school break. We’ll post upcoming dates when they become available. Daily camp hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Extended care service is available.
Where—Camp is held at the Science Centre. Each group of campers is provided with a private area (for example, a science lab, classroom or workshop room) that serves as their camp room.
What—Campers spend their day exploring exhibit halls and participating in hands-on science activities in small groups with other children in the same age range. Our full-day summer camps include an IMAX® Dome film related to each camp’s theme. Half-day camps do not include a film.
Meals—Campers may bring their lunch, or parents can opt-in to the lunch service at an additional cost. While we instruct all campers not to bring food containing nut products, as a public facility, we cannot guarantee a nut-free environment.
Supervision—Our camp programs are delivered by enthusiastic, caring counsellors with a broad range of expertise and experience working with children in an educational and/or recreational environment. All Science Centre camp counsellors undergo a Vulnerable Sector Screening check and have first-aid training with Level-C CPR certification.
Discounts—Members get a discount on birthdays, sleepovers and camps. To qualify for the member discount, the person booking must be the legal guardian of the child and a named cardholder on a current membership at the Planetary level or higher that includes children. Learn how to become a member.
More information regarding camp themes, pricing, meal planning, extended care and how we can support medical and special needs is available in our summer camp information package (updated as dates are confirmed).
