Enjoy fun, high-quality learning and play through exciting and interactive science activities at Camp
Get ready for hands-on science fun! At Winter Break Camp, children ages 5-10 will get the chance to play, experiment and learn while they explore exhibit halls, make new friends and take part in interactive science activities.
Single day or full registration (four days) are both available, so you can choose a schedule that fits your family’s needs.
Our enthusiastic Camp counsellors provide trusted supervision and deliver activities with content aligned to the day’s theme in private, Camp-friendly spaces within the Science Centre.
This Camp is being offered on-site at the Science Centre from January 2 to 5 with limited spots available. Participants can register once for all four days of the program, or you can sign up for individual days of Camp.
Price: $85 per day, $80 per day for Members (Planetary, Stellar, Galactic or Cosmic levels only), $15 per day for optional Extended Care. All prices include HST.

Camp Themes
January 2: Biology Fun
Learn all about cells and DNA. Take an inventory of your own observable traits, extract DNA from a strawberry and make your own cell in a bag.
January 3: Chemistry Fun
Study the science of acids and bases to find out what rust, sour milk and turmeric all have in common. Mix up some fun and watch chemistry in action!
January 4: Engineering Fun
Learn all about coding as you explore algorithms, create a beaded binary bracelet and work with other Campers to conquer programming challenges.
January 5: Physics Fun
Explore the science of sound and energy to understand how different musical instruments work. Plus, find out what a foley artist does—and practise your own sound effect skills!
Camp Logistics
When—Winter Break Camp hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Extended Care is available for $15 per day. Morning Extended Care begins at 8 a.m. and ends when Camp begins. Afternoon Extended Care begins at 4:15 p.m. and ends at 6 p.m.
Where—Camp is held at the Science Centre. Each group of Campers is provided with a private area (for example, a science lab, classroom or workshop room) that serves as their main Camp-room.
What—Campers spend their day exploring exhibit halls and participating in science activities in small groups with other children in the same age range.
Meals—Campers should bring two snacks, three drinks and a packed lunch. While we ask all Campers not to bring food containing nut products, as a public facility, we cannot guarantee a nut-free environment. Lunch is also available to order in advance from our on-site food service provider (see form for details).
Supervision—Our Camp programs are delivered by enthusiastic, caring counsellors with a broad range of expertise and experience working with children in an educational and/or recreational environment. All Science Centre Camp counsellors undergo a Vulnerable Sector Screening check and have first-aid training with Level-C CPR certification.
Discounts—To qualify for the Member discount, the person booking must be the legal guardian of the child and a named cardholder on a current membership at the Planetary level or higher that includes children. Learn how to become a member.
