Visitor Tips

We’re excited to have you visit! Here are some helpful tips:

  • Start at the Front Entrance: All visits start at the front entrance, where the Box Office, Membership Desk and OMNIMAX® Theatre are located. Visitors then board a shuttle to the rear entrance to explore our exhibit halls, live demos and more.
  • Board the Shuttle: Shuttles are free, fully accessible and must be used to travel between the front and rear entrances. Shuttle stops are located outside of each entrance—but you can always stay warm and cozy inside while you wait! During inclement weather and busy periods, wait times may be longer than usual. We appreciate your understanding and patience.
  • Tickets: Buy general admission and IMAX® film tickets in advance online to save time when you arrive. Tickets are also available to buy in-person at the Box Office at the front entrance. Want to use CityPASS, Perkopolis voucher, or other passes? Please go to the Box Office to redeem for general admission tickets before you take the shuttle to our exhibit halls.
  • Parking: Available for $12. During busy periods such as weekends and holidays, parking is very limited. Avoid crowds by coming in the afternoon when we are less busy, or consider taking public transit. Please note there is no parking, pick-ups or drop-offs at the rear entrance.
  • Area Construction: Due to construction in the area, we recommend checking online maps or navigation tools for the quickest way to reach us.
  • Plan Ahead: Check the online Schedule + Planner to see demo, program and film times, and make sure to take a peek at our map before your visit. A friendly reminder that you will need to allow extra time for the shuttle service. To avoid missing a film, demo or program start time, please give yourself at least 30 minutes to travel between the front and rear entrances. The shuttle ride is short—but the Science Centre is big! Pro tip: Plan to see a film at the start or end of your visit.
  • What to Bring: A loonie for the lockers on Level 6 or Level 2, where you can store packed lunches and other personal belongings. Don’t forget a reusable water bottle—water refilling stations are located on Level 6. Staying hydrated is important!
  • Plan Your Meals: Don’t want to pack a lunch? There are lots of food locations throughout the building, including Valley Restaurant on Level 6, the Snack Bar on Level 4 and the Lobby Café on Level 2. Vending machines are also available on Levels 2, 4 and 6 for quick snacks and drinks. Plus, there is a snack cart on Level 6 that sells sweet treats, popcorn, ice cream and more.
  • What to Wear: Comfy clothes and shoes so that you can walk around and enjoy the hundreds of interactive exhibits and activities on-site all day long.
  • Hosts: Keep an eye out for Hosts in white lab coats throughout the building. Extra Science Centre team members will also be available during peak periods to answer your questions or point you in the right direction. We are always happy to lend a hand and help make your Science Centre experience a great one!
