Emett’s Dream Machines at CF Sherway Gardens
Enjoy a beloved Science Centre holiday tradition—inventor Rowland Emett’s fantastical kinetic sculptures—at CF Sherway Gardens!

Admire the wondrous, whimsical creations of eccentric artist and inventor Rowland Emett, whose work was featured in the classic 1968 film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. From the 9-metre-long Tea Train and Hot Air Rocking Chair to the Featherstone Kite Flying Machine and Exploratory Moon Probe Lunacycle, this one-of-a-kind collection of kinetic sculptures turns ordinary objects such as doorknobs, colanders and badminton birdies into the extraordinary.
The Ontario Science Centre began collecting Emett’s machines in the mid-1970s and owns one of the largest collections in the world. It is a longstanding tradition for us to display these magical moving machines for visitors to enjoy during the winter and holiday season.

Survival: The Exhibition
Are you ready for a thrilling adventure? Investigate, collaborate, problem-solve, play, build and climb your way through this interactive exhibition to become the ultimate survival expert!
The exhibition culminates in the Adventure Zone Ropes Course, where visitors’ confidence and problem-solving skills are put to the test. Course obstacles and activities teach balance, focus, coordination, and concentration while building resilience and determination in the face of adversity.

Note: Our Adventure Zone is a popular feature but it includes restrictions such as height, weight and footwear. Please visit our FAQ page to make sure you come prepared to meet the challenge.
