Northern Lights over tree tops.

Our staff astronomer is headed to Killarney Provincial Park!

Join the Science Centre’s Rachel Ward-Maxwell this week as she heads to the northern shores of Georgian Bay to share her knowledge of—and love for—all things celestial. She’ll be sharing her expert view of the stars, the Sun and, if the solar weather cooperates, the northern lights, too.

Killarney Provincial Park is a special space for skywatchers for two reasons: It’s home to the first public observatory in an Ontario Provincial Park and it has been designated a Dark Sky Preserve by the Royal Astronomical Society.

You can join Rachel for a public event at Killarney on Saturday, September 6 at 7 p.m. More details are available on the park website. You can also follow Rachel’s adventures online on the Astronomer in Residence Blog.

You can also follow our social media channels for special content from Rachel during and after her week in Killarney:
