Our Social Media Community Guidelines

The Ontario Science Centre uses social media to communicate with the public online. We have designed our social media channels to be a positive, engaging community where you can join conversations about science learning and stay updated on our news, events and activities. We want our pages to be spaces where community members feel safe and respected. By engaging with our social media accounts, you agree to follow our Social Media Community Guidelines.

We will remove content including posts, imagery, links or comments that:

  • Promote sexually explicit material or violence.
  • Promote discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age.
  • Are obscene, indecent, threatening, harassing, abusive or otherwise inappropriate.
  • Include defamatory words, personal attacks or insults.
  • Contain spam or content that is overly repetitive in nature.
  • Are fraudulent, deceptive or misleading.
  • Violate any law, regulation or rule, including intellectual property rights.
  • Are off topic, irrelevant or unintelligible.
  • Contain personal information of the poster.
  • Contain commercial content or advertisements.
  • Breach any of the terms of any of the social media platforms themselves.

Breach of Guidelines

We reserve the right to determine, at our discretion, whether content breaches our Community Guidelines. We reserve the right to hide or delete comments made on our channels, as well as block users who do not follow these Guidelines.

Reasonable Expectations

The Ontario Science Centre cannot be responsible for, nor do we endorse any opinions expressed on our social channels and we disclaim all liability in relation to the comments, photos and other materials contributed by third party posters. Our social channels are not meant to be the place to communicate grievances or for business concerns. Please contact us via our website for help with any concerns. We reserve the right to modify these Guidelines at any time without notice. Please check this web page regularly for any changes.
