Are you a student aged 15–17 looking for a great volunteer opportunity this summer? Apply for a spot on our Recreational Programs Volunteer team! As a volunteer, you’ll spend 2–3 weeks working at our Summer Day Camp.

Earn community service hours while you explore science, act as a supportive role model for Campers and gain volunteer experience in a unique work environment.

As a Recreational Programs Volunteer at the Ontario Science Centre Summer Day Camp, you will:

  • Interact with and supervise Campers aged 4–12
  • Guide Campers’ exploration of the Science Centre’s exhibit halls
  • Assist in the delivery of science programs and recreational activities, both indoors and outside
  • Develop interpersonal, communication and leadership skills

We are now accepting applications until April 30 or until we have received 95 applications (whichever happens first). Please review the requirements below when considering your decision to apply.

Eligibility criteria

Before applying for this program, please be sure you meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1. You will be 15–17 years old at the time of Summer Camp (July and August 2024).
  2. You can commit to attending training and Camp on the following dates:
    • May 7 (Evening) — In-Person Group Interviews
    • June 4 (Evening) — In-Person Mandatory Training
    • June 28 (Morning) — In-Person Mandatory Training
    • July 8–26, July 29–August 9 or August 12–30th (All Day)* — Summer Camp
  3. You can provide a reference, such as a teacher, guidance counsellor, coach, employer or previous supervisor, for our team to contact as part of your application.

*You will be asked to provide your preferred dates when applying. We will do our best to accommodate your preference while filling volunteer spots as needed.
